Intellectual Property Policy

This Intellectual Property Policy ("IP Policy") is part of our Terms of Service and explains who owns the prompts and skills on SkillStorr, what license you give when you publish, and how attribution and reuse work. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms.
1. You own what you create
The prompts, skills, comments, and other material you create or upload ("Your Content") remain yours. Publishing on SkillStorr does not transfer ownership to us or to anyone else — it grants the licenses described below.
You are responsible for Your Content. By uploading or publishing it, you confirm you have the rights to it and that it does not infringe anyone else's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
2. The license you give SkillStorr
To run the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and transmit Your Content as needed to operate and provide the Service — including versioning it and delivering it to the third-party AI tool you choose when you invoke it.
This license exists so the Service can function. It applies to all of Your Content, whether or not you publish it, and it does not let us sell your private content or pass it off as our own.
3. The license others get when you publish
SkillStorr is built for sharing. When you publish a prompt or skill to the public catalog, you license it to the public under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
In plain terms, anyone may:
- use and run your published prompt or skill,
- share it, on or off SkillStorr, and
- adapt it — remix, build on, or fork it —
for any purpose, including commercially, as long as they give you credit (see Section 4).
Only content you actively publish to the public catalog is offered under CC BY 4.0. Private, team-only, and unpublished content is not — for that content, only the operational license in Section 2 applies.
You may publish content under CC BY 4.0 only if you have the right to do so. Do not publish content you don't own or aren't allowed to license this way — for example, someone else's prompt, or material bound by a conflicting license.
A paid marketplace is not yet available. If and when it launches, separate licensing terms may apply to paid content, and we will publish them then.
4. Attribution
Anyone who uses, shares, or adapts your published content must give reasonable credit. Under CC BY 4.0, credit means:
- naming you — your SkillStorr display name, or another name you've asked to be credited by;
- linking back to the original item on SkillStorr where practical; and
- indicating if changes were made when the content has been adapted or forked.
When you use someone else's published content, the same applies to you: keep their attribution intact and credit them the same way. Removing or falsifying attribution is not allowed and may lead us to remove content or suspend accounts under the Terms.
5. Forking and derivatives
Forking is a core part of SkillStorr. A fork or other adaptation of published content is a derivative work:
- you must credit the original creator as described in Section 4;
- your fork is your content — you own your changes — and when you publish it, it is offered to others under CC BY 4.0, like any published item; and
- the original creator keeps their rights in the original, and you keep yours in your changes.
6. Publishing is not revocable for copies already made
You can stop publishing content at any time, which removes it from the public catalog going forward. But a CC BY 4.0 license, once granted, cannot be revoked for copies and adaptations others have already made. In practice: unpublishing stops new distribution through the catalog, but people who already used or forked your content may keep and continue using those copies under CC BY 4.0.
Please consider this before publishing content you might later want to fully withdraw.
7. Using other people's content
The public catalog contains content created by other users, offered under CC BY 4.0. You may use, share, and adapt it under that license and with proper attribution. As stated in the Terms, we don't endorse user content and don't guarantee it is accurate, safe, or fit for any purpose — you use it at your own risk.
8. Our brand and the Service itself
The Service — its software, design, and the "SkillStorr" name and logo — belongs to us or our licensors, as stated in the Terms. CC BY 4.0 covers user-published prompts and skills, not SkillStorr's brand or software. Nothing here gives you the right to use our name or logo except to provide the attribution described above.
9. AI outputs
When you invoke a prompt, it runs on a third-party AI provider under their terms, and you are responsible for your use of any outputs, as described in the Terms. This IP Policy governs the prompts and skills themselves, not the outputs an AI tool generates from them.
10. Reporting infringement
If you believe content on SkillStorr infringes your rights, contact us at [email protected]. We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts under our Terms of Service.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this IP Policy as SkillStorr grows. We will update the date above and, for material changes, give reasonable notice. Questions: [email protected].
